NEON!

It's obvious that Neon has been a big hit this spring, and no doubt will continue into this summer! A subtle way to work the trend would be a neon bag or even neon rings and bracelets. These florescent hues can be surprisingly flattering, they work great during the summer months (the bright colors really accentuate your bronze glow.) I prefer to pair neon pieces with neutrals like black, white, or tan, but for the braver souls, pair a neon tee with a bright skirt, a pair of short, or pants. Prints are also a great way to make a statement with your neon. Mix a neon tee with some printed pants like leopard (another neutral) snake print or stripes, and the other way.

Rocker Tee Love

We've been a little MIA the past two months, so so sorry. Fortunately, while we were out, summer weather has been frequenting the area and totally getting us pumped up. Every year around this time, I find myself religiously stalking all of the Coachella looks. Assuming we all frequent summer music festivals, one can only imagine how tedious the task of choosing an outfit would be. Just like any outfit worn in the summertime, it would need to be comfy enough to wear from dusk to dawn, while remaining effortlessly.... awesome! With all of the new Chaser Brand Tees coming into the store, outfits are running wild through my head, these tee's totally fit the criteria for a laid back yet stylish look.

The beauty of the 'Rocker Tee' is it's ability to be comfy, chic, and illuminate coolness all at the same time. It's not only perfect for a music festival, but for ANY event your planning on attending this summer!

Make it a classic look and pair the tee with Levi's, a military jacket and some awesome worn in boots, or dress it up with a maxi and a leather jacket. The possibilities are endless!!!

Girls LOVE Boy Jeans!

A twist to the classic blue jean that came straight from your man's closet, boyfriend jeans are comfortable and can be effortlessly dressed down or up!

Photobucket
Dress them down by wearing over-sized tees and cute boots or sneakers. This gives them a cool urban feel!

Photobucket
Dress them up by wearing a pretty blouse or blazer and a pair heels! Dressing your boyfriend jeans up will make your look girly with a little edge!

Photobucket
This is how Shawna and I styled two different pairs of boyfriend jeans that we have in the store now!
I dressed down the Rich & Skinny boyfriend jeans by pairing it with the Wildfox Mine is the Night Cassidy tank and a pair of my own black boots!
Shawna dressed up the Paige Jimmy Jimmy Boyfriend Skinny jeans with the Free People Passage to India Tunic and a pair of Dolce Vita Julie Wedges!

How would you style your boyfriend jeans?

Spring Vacation MUST Haves!

As the winter weather fades out and the tulips begin to bloom, everyone is craving some sun! This means that it is time for vacations to places where it's 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky! I have hand picked 5 pieces of clothing from Sweet Life that are must haves for your spring vacations! They all are extremely versatile, which is great when packing light is a must!

Photobucket

1. This Alternative Maxi is great for day to night looks! It comes in a bunch of colors and is so soft! You can wear it to the beach over a swim suit and then to dinner by throwing a cute cropped top over it. It's cute with wedges or a pair of strappy sandals.

Photobucket

2. This leather Alternative handbag is perfect to throw everything in that you need for a day out! You can take it to the beach or out into town. It's a beautiful color and extremely soft!

Photobucket

3. Everyone needs a great pair of jean shorts and these Hudson jean shorts are GREAT! They are the perfect length for any age and the dark color will look good with any top you pair with it!

Photobucket

4. These Seychelles Wedges are so cute! If you are going out for the night or are going to be on your feet these wedges are perfect, they are extremely comfortable! They look cute with dresses or skinny legged jeans.

Photobucket

5. Last but not least are these Free People bandeaus. They both are great colors for the spring and are perfect layered under tank tops or dresses. I love the layered look, but when the weather is hot you don't want to have layers of clothing on. A great alternative is to layer a bandeau under your tops!

Here is what the bandeau looks under a basic tank!

I hope you all have fun and sunny vacations!

DIY Neon Bracelet

In November we blogged about how much we loved mixing and stacking tons of bracelets, well this trend is still hot! Here is a step by step guide to make your own bracelet to add to the stack. And make it neon to incorporate the 2012 trend!

Photobucket
For this project you will need...

  • 1.5 yards of waxed linen cord
  • 20 - 30 size 8/o seed beads
  • a 10-13 mm two hole button
  • scissors

Photobucket

First cut the waxed linen cord into two 26" pieces. Fold the two pieces directly in half creating two parallel loops.

Photobucket

Tie a knot about half an inch down from the top of the loop. Next, cut off the forth string at the bottom of the knot, so there is three strings left that are equal in length.

Photobucket

Now start braiding the three strings. After about an inch or so start braiding in the beads. Start with the farthest string to the left and thread a bead on and crossover that string.

Photobucket

Continue braiding and adding beads with every string.

Photobucket

Continue this for about an inch and a half.
Make sure you measure all this according to your wrist size!

Photobucket

Once you have finished threading and braiding in the beads, just continue a normal braid for about an inch or so. Once you have finished that tie a knot at the end.

Photobucket

Next, thread the button onto the end of the bracelet. Two strings go into one hole of the button and the other string goes into the second hole of the button. Once the button is on tie it and cut of the excess string.
The button acts as the clasp for this bracelet.

Photobucket

Here is the finished product! I made four different bracelets using different bright, neon colors, they are perfect to stack with my other bracelets!

Have fun being crafty!

It's no secret that bright neon colors are extremely hot for this season! My favorite way to showcase this trend is to wear neutral colors and then add a glowing pop of neon with your accessories! This is perfect if wearing neon clothing is too daring for you. You can stay in your comfort zone by wearing blacks, greys, whites or tans and spice those up with fun bold accessories! The perfect addition to any spring outfit!
Stay tuned for our next post on how to make your own neon colored bracelet!

One thing all the Sweet Life girls love to wear, is something that has been in our closets since Junior High and they never seem to go out of style!

Converse are a GREAT go - to sneaker. They are casual, easy, and can be worn with almost any outfit!

Photobucket

You can wear Chuck Taylors with jeans, leggings, a dress, shorts, practically anything! That's why we love these laid back kicks!
