It's no secret that bright neon colors are extremely hot for this season! My favorite way to showcase this trend is to wear neutral colors and then add a glowing pop of neon with your accessories! This is perfect if wearing neon clothing is too daring for you. You can stay in your comfort zone by wearing blacks, greys, whites or tans and spice those up with fun bold accessories! Sweet Life Soiree!

Valentines Day is a day to show all the people you care about how much you love them! So Sweet Life decided to show how much we love our customers by throwing a Valentines Day Soiree! In case you missed out in all the fun activities, here are some photos from the night!

Our front windows were decorated with super sparkly hanging hearts and cute outfits and dresses perfect for any Valentines Day occasion!

And what's Valentines Day without all of the sugary treats and handmade cards for your sweetie!
We had this table stocked with candy hearts, chocolates, and red velvet cupcakes (provided by Sweet Charley B's Cupcakery)!

On the other side of the table was glitter, rhinestones, sequins, and paper hearts! Everything needed to make the perfect Valentines card!

Spring 2012 Trends!

Here are three super fun trends for this spring!

BRIGHT IDEA!

The weather is changing, the birds are singing, and the flowers are beginning to bloom. That must mean that it is spring! So put away all those winter clothes and bring out the color! Neon, vibrant, bold, and lively colors are all the rage! Try pairing two bright pieces together, for example a purple top and an orange skirt, this is called color blocking and it's perfect for this spring!

YES PLEATS!

Pleats are very pretty and perfect for the season! This dainty look spices up the traditional high-waisted skirt or solid colored dress!

TOP THAT!

For a more daring look, try a long bandeau or cropped bra with a high-waisted skirt or shorts! This look is right off the runway, featured in No21 and Dolce & Gabanna's Spring 2012 runway shows. For a little more coverage try putting a shear collared button up shirt over!

Sweet on Stripes

Stripes never go out of style! We love the classic look of a blazer and simple stripes, but it's also fun to change it up by adding a bold piece of jewelry or contrasting them with florals. When contrasting, make sure to have a common color in both your striped piece and your contrasting piece. Have fun mixing!

Sock-Bun Love

How to do your own sock-bun!

What you'll need:
-a tube sock
-scissors
-bobby pins
-a hair tie
1. Take a tube sock and cut off the toe and ribbed top.

2. Roll the sock until it turns into a donut shape.

3. Style your hair in a high pony tail (it works best if it's straight), and place the sock donut at the base.

4. Carefully pull the donut up to the top of your pony tail and begin to slowly roll your hair down the donut. Secure any fly-aways into the sock as you roll.

5. Roll your hair completely into the sock donut. Secure tightly with bobby pins and hair spray!

Mess it up a bit or keep it clean and polished for a fun new hairstyle!

Winter Layering

Don't let the harsh Washington winter suck the style out of your wardrobe this year! There are loads of innovative ways to keep warm and stylish with trendy new layering techniques. Try matching a leather or wool jacket over a denim or fur vest, or even a thick cardigan. On your bottom half, socks are a must! I love long knit socks scrunched up under boots, but they are are also great for adding some warmth when paired over tights. Lastly, don't forget to add a chunky scarf to top off your look!

Winter Shorts!

We LOVE tights and shorts this winter because it's a great way to pull back out some of your summer favorites! Black nylons or opaque tights are the most versatile for this look, but don't be afraid to play around with patterned or colored stockings too. Try mixing denim, patterned, silk, sequined or leather shorts with boots for day and heels at night. This trend is a fun way to twist up your wardrobe, and with New Year's approaching, it's the perfect alternative to an LBD!

Holiday Dress Inspiration

Holiday Nail Idea: Half Moon Manicure!

DIY Half Moon Manicure

What you'll need:-Butter London nail laquer color pairing "Diamond Geezer" & Chimney Sweep." or-Butter London nail laquer color pairing "Old Bill" & "Knees Up."
-Basic hole reinforcers from Target or any office supply store.

How to! 1. Start with fresh trimmed nails and paint with a base coat.(This is not an entirely neccessary step but it will help your polish last longer.)

2. Paint two coats of Butter London's "Diamond Geezer" or "Old Bill" on all nails (or whichever light shade you're choosing as your base color.)

3. After your base has dried completely, carefully apply a hole reinforcer at the cuticle of each nail. Place each reinforcer according to how big or small you want your "half moon" to be.

4. Paint the top half of each nail with your preffered dark shade. In our case we chose Butter London's "Chimney Sweep" for our silver scheme, and "Knees Up" for our gold scheme. Cover the tip of each hole reinforcer slightly but try not to cover it completely as this could complicate later steps.
5. Once your dark coating has dried completely, carefully peel off each hole reinforcer SLOWLY.

6. Cover with a topcoat and let dry completely.

Voila! You now have a fabulous holiday half moon manicure!

Black on black, on black. It's simple, to the point, and the most chic trick in the book! Every girl knows that while an all black ensemble is versatile for many occassions (not to mention slimming), it also gives off a very strong appearance. Lately however, I've been switching it up a bit. I'm really into contrasting patterns and colors against predominately black looks and am obsessed with a crisp white or striped blazer atop black jeans and heels! It's a new fun way keep a monochrome scheme while adding a new twist to a classic look!
